Sony handycam DCR-HC26, question about transfering videos to personal? Where can I find a Canon camcorder that I have the ability to plug directly into the personal?
Nov 06

ok so i've had to do more research after discovering that my personal doesn't have a firewire outlet. and an adapter doesn't work on video. so there goes my dream camera of the Canon HV20. oh well. i was wondering if the HDR-HC9 works for a USB outlet or does any one know of a camera that is HD and works with a Personal computer USB outlet. and that can get 24p or cinema mode or something? help please?

Answer:
ALL miniDV tape based camcorders use firewire to transfer DV or HDV format video. The Sony HDR-HC9 is a miniDV tape based camcorder and requires firewire for transfer.

Hard disc drive and Flash memory based camcorders use USB for video data file copying - but do not use DV/HDV. They use highly compressed MPEG2 (standard definition) or AVCHD (high definition) file formats so you need to be careful which video editor you want to use.

Since you didn’t tell us which personal you are using, we have no way to know if you can add a firewire port…
